This performer (Asya) as well as Narciso Yepes and Hopkinson Smith (lute) play the two proportional tempos in good, historically informed style. Each plays a different tempo (Asya is faster than Yepes) but each is in accordance with the meaning of the tempo symbol alla breve as described in the writings of Baroque composers. What falls outside good, informed style (e.g. Segovia, Bream) is where the notes are taken at face value without knowing the tempo conventions.
